Kym's Donation Page ~ In Memory of Jeff and Taylor
It's that time of year again! I am excited to Hike for Hope this May and continue to create awareness of this organizations amazing work!!!
Hope Hospice is near and dear to me for a number of reasons. Through their services Rachel and I received unimagined support following the death of her half sister Taylor 2 months prior to the death of my brother Jeff, both lost to terminal illness. While each received hospice support neither were in the Hope Hospice system. A referral from a friend led us to Hope Hospice's unique grief counselling services FREE TO ANYONE who wanted them. Rachel participated in a program specifically designed for young teens who have lost a sibling and I paralleled in a parent's group. Through art, poetry, journalling, and the creation of a memory box in a weekly program Rachel received the tools she needed to really grieve such a deep loss at an early age. Following, I became a Hope Hospice volunteer where I did friendly visitations to those whose death was imminent. I served for 2 years until I moved to Oakland and feel really privileged to have met some amazing human beings during their transition from this life!
That said, I encourage you to check out their services - both hospice and grief counselling - and if you are willing to support the great work they do, I would be most grateful.
